North East Lincolnshire Council is seeking a legal professional with experience in Commercial Property, whether that be as a Solicitor, newly qualified Solicitor or an experienced Senior Legal Officer.

What will your day look like?
Your day in this role will be varied and engaging, working within a busy legal team handling a high volume of commercial property matters and supporting regeneration projects across North East Lincolnshire. You'll be responsible for managing a diverse caseload that includes property sales, purchases, leases, and landlord-tenant issues, while also providing legal advice and support to internal departments. You'll attend meetings related to major regeneration initiatives offering legal input.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority, or hold a Level 6 legal qualification such as CILEX, with at least five years of experience in a legal property environment. They will be capable of working effectively as part of a team, embracing change and new ways of working, while also being able to independently plan and prioritise their workload to meet deadlines. A strong foundation of legal knowledge and skills is essential to provide advanced support across legal services. While experience in local government and an understanding of the challenges facing local authorities is desirable, it is not essential for the role.

Joining our team would provide a candidate with experience of high value projects, and further insight into local government law and governance.
Working in North East Lincolnshire Council's legal team provides a high level of flexibility in terms of working arrangements and hours, including hybrid home and office working and flexi-time. Flexible working arrangements including the ability to work remotely are available and will be considered.
In addition, the in-house legal team do not complete traditional legal time- recording and billing in comparison to some private sector law firms.
The work conducted by the team has a significant impact on the local area and the successful candidate's input on these projects and schemes is highly valued.
Development opportunities are also available in terms of additional training, shadowing other members of the team, and career progression.
