Day Support Worker - Solo Placement Children's Residential Home - Reading



Pay:

13.00 - 13.50 per hour

Shifts:

7:30 AM - 9:30 PM (No sleep-ins required)

Contract Type:

Cornerstone Children's Homes is seeking dedicated Residential Support Workers to provide one-to-one support for a young person in a solo residential setting in Reading. This unique position offers the opportunity to have a profound and lasting impact during a critical stage in a young person's life.

This is not a typical support position. You will play a vital role in helping a young person build trust, stability, and resilience--laying the foundation for long-term healing and growth.

Key Responsibilities



Deliver trauma-informed, therapeutic care tailored to individual needs Support emotional regulation, mental health challenges, and behaviours of concern Apply de-escalation techniques and physical interventions when necessary (training provided) Maintain structured routines and ensure emotional safety in a solo care environment Assist with daily routines, personal care, and development of independent living skills Participate in key working sessions and actively contribute to care planning Work collaboratively within a skilled and supportive team

What We're Looking For



Experience in residential childcare, therapeutic settings, or mental health support Confidence managing complex behaviours using trained intervention strategies High emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure A proactive, responsible attitude and strong teamwork skills Genuine commitment to supporting young people who have experienced trauma or adversity
