Legal and General\'s Retail Protection team is currently looking to hire a solution architect into an already established team to define, develop, maintain, and ensure the integrity and consistency of end-to-end technology solutions in order to deliver outcomes which meet requirements and costs. This role will see you working to ensure alignment to strategy and roadmap and enterprise architecture, policies, and standards across all workstreams. What you\'ll be doing

  • Developing and establishing solution architecture parameters to implement the overall operating model and ensure the correct application of technology solutions.
  • Leading analysis of any new or 3rd party technology solution option taking into account associated costs, risks, conduct gap analysis and proof of concepts for new solutions as appropriate to ensure alignment to business outcomes.
  • Developing the tactical and strategic business goals and ensure they are mapped to the relevant architecture to lead ongoing assurance of fit for purpose solutions.
  • Leading clear decision-making processes which provide technical results and ensure smooth delivery of programmes, determining and driving effective communication of all solution aspects to all interested parties including key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leading supplier management for third party relationships ensuring that all technical dependencies are identified and managed, accountabilities are clear and programme deliverables are achieved, without incurring unnecessary cost or delay to the programme.
  • Ensuring that our applications and product estate have core values embedded around ensuring value is provided fairly to all our customers.
  • Designing and developing products and propositions that meet the needs, characteristics, and objectives of customers in an identified target market.


Qualifications
  • TOGAF or similar architecture framework (Desirable) or relevant experience
  • Cloud technologies
  • Excellent understanding of big data / data lake platforms like SaaS (Snowflake) and DBaaS (MongoDB Atlas), Cloudera Data Platforms and cloud native alternatives.
  • ELT/ETL
  • Dimensional Modelling (Kimball methodology) and Reporting (e.g., WhereScape, DB2, Snowflake), Cloudera Data Platform
  • API and Web Services
  • IT (Information Technology) Security Principles
  • Data Governance methodology and governance solution patterns
  • Excellent understanding and practical experience of cloud technologies, including PaaS (Platform as a Service), container platforms (Docker and Kubernetes), Serverless, etc. Experience with Red Hat OpenShift and AWS (Amazon Web Services) of significant benefit
  • Experience of designing and delivering solutions to the value of \xc2\xa310m plus
  • Desirable to understand central customer, policy admin, data warehouse and operational layer solutions
  • Understanding of technical options available for delivering solutions to business problems and requirements with experience of building out innovative IT & systems strategies and their links to business strategies
  • Deep understanding of a variety of IT delivery models, including waterfall and agile.
  • Understanding of established and emerging technologies and their contribution to delivering successful business outcomes.
  • Awareness of current issues and trends impacting L&G (Legal & General), including regulation, competitive forces, and economic factors.
  • Awareness of any issues with these technologies, such as lifespan and potential replacements, scalability, and other constraints.
