Job Description


As a lead consultant specialist in our Defence Solution Design Authority practice, you will be working as a trusted industry partner to our defence customer and cross-functionally supporting internal business units (Sales, Business, Technology, Security and Operations), key stakeholders and externally facing third party technology providers as part of and reporting into the practice manager.

You will work with internal key stakeholders, the customer, and its subsidiary departments to conceptualise their strategic vision, capture requirements; to define and create innovative fit for purpose digital solutions meeting their digital strategy and transform the way they can do business.

Underpinned by using robust ICT framework architecture, security principles, methodologies, industry best practices, and customer compliance polices. As a technical solution architect, you will be providing expert solution architecture expertise and ownership throughout all stages of the solutions design engagement life cycle.

You will be part of an industry leading Solution Design Authority team working closely with other architects, designers, technology experts, business managers and business analysts. Where you will bring your expertise and diverse experience to each challenge ensuring successful solution delivery across a vast variation in highly sensitive and unique opportunities and projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an ambassador for our company, our customers, and our team.
  • Be the authoritative Solution Architect engaging with the customer, business stakeholders and key partners in providing end to end architecture governance, leadership and solution decision making aligned to the Solution Design Authority architecture principles.
  • Develop and own enterprise architecture artefacts, strategies and roadmaps from a business and technology perspective, including \'as-is\', \'to-be\' and transitional states addressing key stakeholder viewpoints and requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to business key stakeholders and units in providing consultative customer engagement, shaping, and qualifying complex service change, delivery, and resource profile requirements.
  • Own and engage key stakeholders and business units in responding to complex in-contract customer Request for Information, Contract Change Notification, Solution Design Proposal and Winning New Business Bids. Throughout all stages of a solutions design engagement life cycle.
  • Provide clear solution design requirements to internal business units, derived from the customer\'s vision and complex business requirements.
  • Provide and own architecture deliverable outcomes such as proof of concept, technological solution whitepaper, bid (PQQ, ITT), high level design collateral in addressing the customers\' viewpoints and complex requirements.
  • Provide solution architecture expertise to the Defence Assurance Board before integration of complex change to a domain or service(s).
  • Establishing, qualifying, and documenting the solution\'s CAPEX/OPEX costs, dependencies, risks, impact, and mitigation for complex winning new business opportunities and/or existing services engagements.
  • As the authoritative solution architect, act as overall solution escalation route for design/fault resolution through-out the solution design life cycle until accepted into service.
  • Provide tier 4 solution architecture expertise to operational support teams for a specific domain or service(s).
  • Provide solution overview and familiarisation to operational support teams.
  • Keep up to date with the industry sector, the wider digital economy and identify advances in technology, emerging trends and advise on how this could impact the customer and organisation.
Skills & Experience:
  • Hold UKSV Developed Vetting clearance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of on premise and cloud unified communication technology architecture disciplines:
  • Fixed voice telecommunications (PBX, carrier class VoIP/IPT and SIP) o Video conferencing
  • Enterprise mobility (4-5G, EMM, MDM)
  • PaaS, SaaS Unified and telecommunications solutions
  • Working knowledge and experience of zero trust architectures
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of unified communication vendor technologies, solutions, and products (i.e., Cisco, Juniper, Ribbon, Avaya, Ericsson, Nokia, Microsoft, AWS, Google, and Blackberry).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and hands on experience of industry architecture methodologies & languages (TOGAF, ArchiMate, ITIL, BPMN).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and hands on experience in using enterprise architecture toolsets (such as iServer, IBM Doors).
  • Preferably have the following professional training and/or accreditations
  • IET Incorporated Engineer
  • TOGAF Certified
  • ArchiMate Certified and any one of these:
  • BSc/HND Computer Science or ICT related.
  • BCS Intermediate Certificate (Enterprise and Solutions Architecture)
  • BCS Business Analysis (AgileBA) o BCS IT Professional
  • Any three of these o Cisco technologies (CCNP Collaboration) o Ribbon technologies (SBC-ISP) o Blackberry technologies (BSIP) o VMware technologies (VCP-EUC) o Avaya technologies (ACIS) o Atos technologies (STI) o VMware technologies (VCTA)
  • Any other industry COTS unified communication technologies
  • Experienced in responding to complex, multi-vendor public sector propositions and bid proposals based on customer requirements (RFI, PQQ, ITN, ITT).
  • Experienced in developing solution roadmaps and governance structures in line with customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate proven commercial awareness to ensure a solution meets the customer requirements both technically and in cost.
  • Experience of identifying and mitigate risks, and problem-solving in complex ICT enterprise architectures.
  • Experienced in communicating complex solutions to all key stakeholders and business units with varying technical knowledge.
  • Experienced in working within highly sensitive (T3) HM Government departments or agencies environments.
  • Working knowledge and experience in HMG MoD compliance and security policies.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal support and guidance.
