Job Description


We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our hard working, fast paced product delivery team building and supporting a global platform. Our client facing technology provides a key channel for commercial insurance broking services.

Are you curious, lead by doing and a great communicator? You\'ll ideally understand commercial insurance, welcome overseeing your designs to delivery and use, whilst ensuring the platform is common as possible and distinct where necessary.

With the ethos of delivering rapid, incremental improvements you\'ll have the opportunity to grow with the platform, as you may be working on integration (internal or external), improvements or new feature sets at any one time.

The Role

  • Maintaining an awareness of technology trends within and outside of the organisation.
  • Ensuring enhancements and solution redesigns are in line with the enterprise vision.
  • Production and ownership of the technical roadmap for the platform, as well as advising technical leads of the expectations of their solutions.
  • Providing health-check recommendations for the ongoing fit-for-purpose\' state of our cloud estate.
  • Working to development best practices and principles to enable WTW to deliver industry-leading technology solutions.
  • Maintaining a full range of stakeholder engagement, across business and technology groups, internal and external audiences, from one-to-one up to large workshop environments.
  • Ability to act as a key member of the platform team and providing leadership in design and development practices.
  • Assist in problem resolution and support the development team through consultation and problem research.
  • Communicating concepts to all levels of management.
  • Ensure that expected application quality levels are achieved.
  • Hands-on development may be required to demonstrate component selection and prototyping.
  • Rigorous design methodology that consistently yields the right level of technical design documentation and design technical solutions that conform to customer requirements, development standards and enterprise architecture principles.
  • Work as equals with development team for optimal design/delivery.
  • Change Management - we\'re driving significant change, so you\'ll be challenging the status quo and be able to break down and simplify complex problems.
The Requirements
  • Experience designing Cloud Architecture in Azure, including best practices for cloud patterns, cost optimisation and security.
  • Experience in leading project teams building web applications and services using the Microsoft technology stack.
  • The ability to take high level requirements and develop an architecture and create designs/prototypes of solutions, working closely with other solution and enterprise architects.
  • Experience in developing project scoping and scaling deliverables.
  • Experience with all elements of change control/change management.
  • Experience with all phases of the SDLC with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Technology stack, C#. ASP.NET and working with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with exposing data via Web APIs, oData, Restful Services, etc.
  • Experience with modern web application frameworks, such as Angular, TypeScript.
  • Experience of the Power Platform, such as Power Apps and Power BI.
  • Experience of Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code framework.
  • Experience engaging and influencing business and technology stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven capacity to work independently and manage multiple, competing demands.
  • Experience of understanding complex business processes, involving multiple stakeholder groups and perspectives.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, manage priorities and take responsibility for delivering to time and quality requirements.
  • Ability to work without close supervision, define direction and comply with overall Group strategy and objectives.
  • Have a good understanding of how complex corporate clients are serviced by brokers.
  • BSc Degree qualified educated in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Science or Computer Science).
