Solutions Architect
The role requires a self-driven Systems Engineering professional with experience in UK rail ticketing systems, capable of leading technical delivery for bespoke projects. The candidate will deeply understand customer requirements, produce specifications and designs, and become an expert in system components to support reuse and modification. Working with Project and Bid Managers, they'll ensure solutions are effectively designed and delivered, while also collaborating with software teams to align with technical roadmaps.
How to make an impact
Maintain a "systems view" to coordinate the activities of teams working on individual system components
Produce system documentation, both functional and technical
Liaise with customers to fully understand their business needs
Prepare high level design documentation
Oversee the delivery of technical solutions to clients
Investigate and support the resolution of technical issues arising during the project lifecycle
Identify technical issues and risks and associated mitigation strategies
Contribute to system design reviews
Contribute to product strategy reviews
Production of effort and timescale estimates for system development / deployment activities
Support the sales team, as required, with technical content for proposals
Support the commercial team, as required with the definition of technical constraints, clauses and caveats
About you
Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or other engineering or scientific field (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience in all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle
Working in waterfall, and agile development environments
Proven experience as a "systems thinker"
Experienced in successful requirements engineering activities
Experienced in producing high quality technical documentation, outlining solutions to requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience of successful project delivery
Experience of working with software teams developing integrated cloud and embedded solutions
Experience of UK rail ticketing technology and standards
