Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust at Royal Berkshire Hospital is seeking a passionate Band 7 Sonographer to bring their expertise to its well established and supportive multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will function as an effective member of the Ultrasound team, providing a high quality, comprehensive and efficient Ultrasound service to patients and referring clinicians.
What you can add:
Independently undertakes general ultrasound sessions, providing comprehensive and accurate computerised reports on all examinations.
Evaluates referrals with respect to appropriate clinical details and gathers relevant information from the patient or their representative. Uses such information to develop or adapt the procedure to optimise the diagnostic outcome.
Vets, validates and prioritises referrals prior to appointments being scheduled; addresses patient queries regarding their appointment, either by telephone or in person.
Identifies any contraindications to the procedure such as clinical condition, medication, insufficient patient preparation or any inability or unwillingness on the part of the patient to tolerate the procedure.
Is responsible for the clinical management and care of the patient ensuring patient safety, privacy and dignity is always maintained. To include movement or transfer on and off the ultrasound couch using safe handling devices (i.e. hoists) where necessary.
What you'll need:
HCPC Registration as a Sonographer
BSc Degree in Radiology or equivalent radiographic qualification
DMU / Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound
At least 1 year's NHS experience
