A stunning Grade II listed building with a stunning glass frontage. We are passionate about everything homemade, our pasta, breads, sauces, desserts and more are all made by our dedicated and skilled chefs.

We are looking for an experienced Sous chef to join the team in our new homemade pasta restaurant in the centre of York. The perfect candidate is someone who cares about the guest experience from start to finish, someone who loves working for a growing company and can keep our high standards.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food quality. As a vital part of our kitchen operations, the Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in managing daily food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards. This role offers an opportunity to develop your culinary expertise within a professional hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food production and presentation. Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of food quality. Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards. Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times. Monitor inventory levels, assist with stock ordering, and ensure proper storage of ingredients. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery. Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment in compliance with health regulations.

Qualifications

Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment. Extensive background in food production, cooking, and food preparation. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively. Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hospitality settings. Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure during busy service periods. Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house staff.
