to support the catering operations within a care home setting. This role involves assisting the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals while ensuring a safe, compliant, and resident-focused dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef with the daily preparation, cooking, and service of meals.
Assist in planning menus that meet dietary needs, preferences, and nutritional guidelines.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, kitchen cleanliness, and health & safety procedures.
Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef.
Contribute to stock control, ordering, and waste management.
Ensure meals are served on time and presented to a high standard.
Work collaboratively with kitchen and care staff to support positive mealtime experiences for residents.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Chef or Sous Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or similar environment.
Strong understanding of food safety standards (e.g., Food Hygiene Level 2 or above).
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining attention to detail.
Good communication skills and a resident-focused approach.
Flexibility to work a rota including some weekends.

Pay: 15.50-17.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
