Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced

Sous Chef

to join our dynamic team At Bistro 8. This role is critical in supporting the Head Chef in running a fast-paced, high-quality kitchen. You will ensure the consistency, quality, and creativity of all dishes, while upholding our commitment to fresh ingredients and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be passionate about food, have excellent leadership abilities, and maintain high standards under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist Head Chef

: Work closely with the Head Chef to execute daily operations of the kitchen, including preparation, cooking, and plating.

Consistency & Quality Control

: Ensure all dishes meet the restaurant's standards for presentation, portioning, and flavor. Maintain consistency across all shifts.

Team Leadership

: Supervise and motivate the kitchen brigade, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Assist in training junior chefs and kitchen staff.

Inventory & Ordering

: Monitor stock levels of fresh ingredients, assist with inventory management, and communicate with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of top-quality produce.

Food Safety & Cleanliness

: Enforce strict hygiene standards and maintain a clean, organized kitchen. Ensure all staff comply with food safety regulations.

Menu Development

: Collaborate with the Head Chef on seasonal menus, bringing creativity and innovative ideas while respecting the restaurant's culinary vision.

Problem Solving

: Address kitchen challenges promptly, from equipment issues to service delays, ensuring smooth and seamless kitchen operations.

Cost Control

: Assist in managing food costs and minimizing waste, ensuring the profitability of the kitchen without compromising on quality.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a busy, fresh food kitchen. Ability to maintain high standards of consistency and quality, even during high-volume service. Strong leadership and communication skills. Passion for cooking with fresh ingredients and a focus on detail. Solid understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene regulations. Creative with a keen sense of culinary trends, yet disciplined in execution. Flexible and adaptable to changing environments. A culinary degree or relevant qualification is preferred, but not essential with proven experience.
