The Plough Pyecombe is a small business in Pyecombe along the Southdowns in Sussex, we are a short stride from Brighton, along the A23, Postcode BN45 7FN.

Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring that all food preparation and production meets our high standards of quality and presentation. This position requires strong leadership abilities, excellent culinary skills, and a commitment to maintaining food safety and hygiene standards.

Duties



Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and cooking of dishes. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as necessary. Ensure that all dishes are prepared to specification and presented beautifully. Train new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and safety protocols. Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new recipes and improve existing ones. Handle any customer complaints or issues related to food quality promptly and professionally.

Requirements



Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a busy kitchen environment. Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of food preparation and production techniques. Excellent leadership abilities with experience in team management and supervising staff. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hospitality. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with team members. A passion for creating exceptional dining experiences through innovative cuisine.

Pay: 32,211.00-36,655.00 per year
