We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our busy pub kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and be able to run very busy services in the Head Chefs absence and have a full understanding of food safety and hospitality standards. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and supervising kitchen staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences and kitchen cleanliness.
Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, including menu planning and food preparation.
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to culinary standards and best practices.
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
Oversee food production processes to ensure quality and consistency in all dishes served.
Collaborate with the Head Chef to create innovative menu items that reflect current culinary trends.
Manage inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained and operated safely.
Help foster a positive working environment by promoting teamwork and communication among staff.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a similar role within a busy pub, ideally gastro level.
Strong knowledge of food production techniques and culinary skills.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
Excellent leadership abilities with experience in supervising kitchen staff.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
