We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring that high standards of food quality and safety are maintained. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, assisting in food preparation, and contributing to menu development while fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment. Working well within a team with a calm, methodical approach in a very busy environment.
Duties
Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations and staff.
Supervise and train kitchen personnel, ensuring adherence to food safety standards.
Oversee food production processes to maintain quality and presentation.
Collaborate with the culinary team to develop innovative menu items.
Assist in inventory management, including ordering and stock control.
Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and workstations.
Help in preparing meals according to established recipes and standards.
Monitor food preparation methods to ensure compliance with health regulations.
Provide leadership and support to team members during service periods.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role ideally within a restaurant environment.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety practices, and kitchen management.
Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead a diverse team effectively.
Proficient in food preparation and production methods.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
A passion for cooking and creativity in menu planning is highly desirable.
Culinary qualifications or certifications are an advantage.
Food Safety Level 2 minimum required.
