We are currently recruiting for a Sous Chef at Chalk In The Park, Farnborough.

Founded in 2023, Chalk In The Park Cafe is your cozy, local haven for fresh, delicious food and exceptional coffee.

Nestled in the Southwood Country Park, we pride ourselves on creating a warm, inviting space where community spirit thrives, and everyone feels at home. Our menu features locally sourced ingredients, showcasing the best of British produce, with options to suit all tastes and dietary needs.

Overview


We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality and restaurant operations, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to culinary excellence. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen activities, ensuring high standards of food preparation and safety, and contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Duties



Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including food production and preparation. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen. Prepare and present dishes according to menu specifications, ensuring quality and consistency. Help with inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimising waste. Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings. Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food safety practices, and kitchen protocols. Monitor food stock levels and assist in maintaining an organised kitchen environment.

Requirements



Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality setting. Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and food safety standards. Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively. A passion for cooking with creativity in menu development and presentation. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of food production. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
