Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in the daily operations in Care Home settings. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation while ensuring that all kitchen activities run smoothly. This position requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to excellence in food preparation and safety.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and food preparation. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow. Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are adhered to at all times. Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish served. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in cooking techniques and best practices. Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and minimising waste. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during busy periods. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to health regulations.

Skills

Proven experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment, preferably as a Sous Chef or similar role. Strong leadership abilities with experience in team management and supervising staff. In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food preparation. Excellent culinary skills with a passion for creating high-quality dishes. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills, fostering collaboration within the kitchen team. DBS needs to be on the update service.

Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: From 15.50 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
