Job Description

Who We Are

Cubitt House is a collection of eight distinctive London pubs celebrated for their seasonal British menus, impeccable hospitality, and timeless interiors. Inspired by master architect Thomas Cubitt, we honour London's heritage by creating vibrant spaces that feel both elegant and welcoming. Our pubs--including The Thomas Cubitt, The Alfred Tennyson, The Orange, The Princess Royal, and The Grazing Goat--blend British craftsmanship with a sense of community, partnering with the finest artisans and producers to deliver exceptional experiences.

We are more than a pub group--we are a family of passionate individuals dedicated to craft, creativity, and genuine service. At Cubitt House, we believe in celebrating people and places through thoughtful design, locally sourced food, and warm, memorable moments.

The Role

We're looking for a Sous Chef to join the team at The Builders Arms, our much-loved Chelsea pub just off the King's Road. This iconic neighbourhood destination is known for its warm atmosphere, stylish interiors, and exceptional British dining.

As a Sous Chef, you'll play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef, leading the kitchen team, and ensuring every dish is delivered with passion, skill, and pride. You'll help create memorable dining experiences that reflect our philosophy: food that satisfies appetite and elevates the spirit.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, maintaining consistency and high standards. Oversee and motivate the brigade to deliver exceptional dishes and efficient service. Champion sustainability, seasonality, and quality in every aspect of food preparation. Assist with training, mentoring, and developing junior chefs. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards. Contribute to menu development and innovation while respecting Cubitt House's style and ethos.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a quality hospitality environment. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and support a team. Excellent organisational and communication abilities. A passion for classic techniques such as butchery, charcuterie, and pastry. Enthusiasm for seasonal, sustainable, and locally sourced food. A hands-on, adaptable approach with a genuine desire to learn and grow. Full eligibility to work in the UK.

On The House

At Cubitt House, our people are at the heart of everything we do. They bring our pubs to life, and we believe exceptional work deserves exceptional rewards. When you join our team, here's what you can look forward to:

Competitive pay plus service charge. Perkbox - 30 points every month to spend however you like. Enhanced maternity and paternity leave. Wagestream, pension & cycle-to-work scheme. Employee of the Month recognition & reward programmes. Supplier trips, tastings, and external learning opportunities. Delicious staff meals while on shift. Monthly Bar Academy for cocktail mastery and premium drinks training. Quarterly staff socials, competitions, and a legendary Christmas party. Language development school to help you grow. Work anniversary reward - 100 per year up to 5 years, then 150 per year thereafter. A bottle of champagne on your birthday. 50% off food & drink across all Cubitt House pubs. Clear career progression within a respected, growing hospitality group. A supportive, passionate culture that values both skill and character.

Apply today and take the next step in your hospitality career with Cubitt House.
