Novotel Nottingham Derby is a 4-star hotel located in Long Eaton, between Nottingham and Derby. Also, just off junction 25 of the M1.


Offering newly refurbished rooms with king-sized beds as standard also family rooms available, our features which we have a lovely restaurant and a lobby bar.

We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team in Nottingham, United Kingdom. As a key member of our kitchen leadership, you will work closely with the Head Chef to create specials menus, manage daily operations, and inspire our team to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and execute a la carte, specials and function menus Lead and mentor the kitchen team, fostering a positive and professional work environment Ensure consistent high-quality food preparation and presentation across all dishes Manage inventory, food costs, and kitchen resources efficiently Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction Assist in staff scheduling and training to meet operational needs Oversee kitchen operations in the Head Chef's absence Contribute to menu planning, including daily specials and seasonal updates Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, arranging repairs when necessary

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie ready for advancement Professional experience or relevant qualifications Demonstrated leadership skills in a high-volume, high-quality kitchen environment Exceptional culinary techniques and knowledge of various cuisines Strong organizational and time management abilities Positive, collaborative attitude with a passion for creating memorable dining experiences Current food safety certification Proficiency in kitchen management software Creativity and innovation in menu development and food presentation Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
