Job Overview

:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Woughton House Hotel, Milton Keynes, MK6 3LR. The Sous Chef will be responsible for running the Continental food section of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food preparation, hygiene, and service are consistently maintained. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated chef to develop their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. Any experience and knowledge of other cuisines will be an added an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

:

Prepare, cook, and present dishes within your section according to the best industry standards. Support and collaborate with the other Chefs to maintain smooth kitchen operations. Monitor portion and waste control to maintain profit margins. Ensure high standards of cleanliness and compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations. Knowledge of HACCP guidelines is mandatory. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, including Commis Chefs and Kitchen Porters. Maintain quality and consistency of all food served. Ensure all mise-en-place is completed before service and stored correctly. Stock control, ordering, and inventory management. Comfortably and confidently talk with guests to take feedback about food and understand their food preferences.

Requirements

:

Minimum 10-12 years of experience including as a Senior CDP or Sous Chef in a busy kitchen preferably in a 3-5 star hotel. Culinary qualification or equivalent professional training preferred. Knowledge of health & safety and food hygiene standards (Level 2 Food Safety Certificate desirable). Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. Strong team player with excellent communication skills. Passionate about food, innovation, and continuous learning. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays. Previous experience in a 3-5-star hotel. Experience with British and international cuisines. Familiarity with allergen information and dietary requirements.
