Overview

The George Pub in the village of Little Brickhill, Milton Keynes are currently looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Sous Chef to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and kitchen management. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in delivering exceptional dining experiences while ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently.

Duties

Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and food preparation, ensuring high-quality standards are met. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to enhance their skills and performance. Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies and maintaining proper stock levels. Oversee food safety protocols to ensure compliance with health regulations. Coordinate banquet services and special events, ensuring all culinary needs are met. Monitor food production processes to maintain consistency and quality across all dishes. Implement effective shift management practices to optimize kitchen workflow. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during peak hours.

Skills

Proven experience in the food industry, particularly in roles such as Sous Chef or similar positions. Strong leadership abilities with experience in team management and supervising kitchen staff. Knowledge of food handling, safety regulations, and best practices in culinary operations. Excellent cooking skills. Experience with inventory management and control processes within a restaurant setting. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members across departments.
