Overview

We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts and experience in a Care Home environment. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring food safety standards are met, and delivering exceptional culinary experiences to the residents.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in supervising kitchen staff and coordinating food preparation activities. Ensure that all food safety and hygiene standards are strictly adhered to within the kitchen. Prepare high-quality dishes in accordance with the restaurant's menu and presentation standards. Help manage inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment. Contribute to menu development by suggesting new dishes or improvements to existing recipes. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service during busy periods.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality industry. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices. Excellent culinary skills with a passion for food preparation and presentation. Ability to supervise and manage a team effectively, promoting teamwork and communication. Familiarity with various cooking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. DBS needs to be on the update service.

Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: From 15.50 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
