We are seeking a passionate and driven sous chef to join the team at our new pub opening in a neighbouring village of Shipston on Stour. The ideal sous chef will have extensive experience in high volume, quality-driven kitchens; able to maintain high standards whilst delivering outstanding guest experiences. As a sous chef you will work closely with the head chef, creating seasonal menus, blending classic pub fare with innovative chef-led cuisine using the freshest local ingredients.

Sous Chef Responsibilities
Oversee daily kitchen operations, supervising and managing all kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation.
Assist with development of seasonal menus that reflect current trends and customer preferences.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and quality control in compliance with all health regulations.
Manage all food stock, supplier relationships, and purchasing to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
Lead and train a team of chefs alongside the head chef.
Work collaboratively with FOH management to ensure a seamless service experience.
Control food cost and labor budgets, reduce waste, and maximize profitability.
Lead by example in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes according to established recipes and standards.

Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu planning, incorporating seasonal ingredients and catering to dietary needs.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
Train new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, food handling procedures, and equipment usage.
Oversee daily operations during shifts, ensuring that all meals are prepared on time and meet quality standards.
Participate in catering events as needed, showcasing culinary skills in various settings.
Skills
Proven experience in a culinary role within fine dining or upscale restaurant environments.
Strong supervisory experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
Knowledge of food production techniques and kitchen management best practices.
Familiarity with inventory management systems and food service operations.
Excellent cooking skills with a focus on presentation and flavor profiles.
Experience in menu planning that accommodates diverse dietary requirements.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and service.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
