Rowton Castle is a family-owned wedding venue located in the Shropshire countryside, not far from the market town of Shrewsbury.
We love what we do and have had the pleasure of helping thousands of couples get married over the last 20 years - we genuinely want for our couples to have the best wedding day, and it shows. We operate primarily for weddings (around 200 per year), but on non-wedding days, our services and facilities range from conferencing to overnight stays with dinner; the castle has 19 bedrooms and a 40-cover restaurant.
The Role:
In the role of Sous Chef you will work across all areas of the kitchen, and will be key in running the kitchen alongside our Head Chef. You will be expected to support the Head Chef in the day to day running of the kitchen, stepping up to lead when required.
You should have creative culinary skills matched with a good work ethic. Confident in all aspects of food preparation and service, you will be expected to make the most of the fresh local produce whilst able to produce food of a consistently high standard.
The successful candidate would have to be able to manage and guide junior chefs and pass important information onto the front of house team. You will contribute to menu creation, ordering and stock control.
Other essential requirements of the Sous Chef :
3 years spent and experience gained in a similar working environment is essential
Must adhere to food safety and cleaning standards
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Have experience of menu writing, ordering and menu costing
Ability to work under pressure
Must be able to work within a team
Should be driven and self-motivated
Must be eligible to live and work in the UK

This is a full time position of 45-50 hours per week, working 5 out of 7 days to include weekends and evenings.
