We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food, and maintaining exceptional standards of food safety and hygiene. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate professional with strong leadership skills to contribute to a vibrant hospitality environment.
We are a small team looking to expand our restaurant offerings and are looking for a strong number two to help move the kitchen team forward with our future visions.
Your working hours will be 35 over 5 days - For the right person this could be changed to 35 hours over 4 days. We are extremely flexible and can work to a set rota for the correct candidate.
Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking.
Supervise and support kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of service.
Oversee food production, ensuring consistency, presentation, and quality across all dishes.
Manage food safety procedures, including hygiene standards and compliance with health regulations.
Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Contribute to menu planning and development, incorporating innovative culinary ideas.
Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control to minimise waste.
Provide training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment.
Requirements
Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen setting.
Experience in food production, food preparation, and cooking techniques.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate staff.
Solid understanding of food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is essential.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills and a professional attitude towards service excellence.
