Job Overview


We are looking for someone to come and join our small team at The King's Head in Chitterne, all we ask is that you have a passion to cook local fresh food and enjoy working in a small friendly village. You will be mostly working along side the head chef and will have chance to come up with some great dishes for specials if you so wish.

The hours are Weds - Sat 10-3pm 6-9.30pm and Sundays 9-5pm. Days off Sunday eve Mondays and Tuesdays.

This is a new venture with around 44 covers and a great opportunity for someone who is looking to step up to Sous chef or maybe step down from head chef for a more work/life balance.

Responsibilities



Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and food production. Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to established recipes and standards. Ensure that all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets presentation standards. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations. Collaborate with the head chef to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings. Provide support during busy service periods, helping to manage workflow effectively.

Skills



Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of food preparation techniques. Proven leadership abilities with experience in team management within a kitchen environment. Excellent organisational skills to maintain an efficient kitchen operation. Ability to supervise staff effectively while fostering teamwork and collaboration. Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hospitality settings. A passion for cooking and creativity in developing new dishes. Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and other departments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 14.50-16.20 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 45 per week
