We're on the lookout for a warm and outgoing Sous Chef to join the team at our new 52-bed home, Langtree, nestled within the Standish Care Village.

Role Overview:


As a Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations and maintain high-quality dish standards for residents.


You will also be responsible for taking charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence and preparing and serving all meals in a timely manner and to a high standard.


You will maintain your skills and undertake such training and development as required.


Role Expectations:

Role Specific Duties:




In the absence of the Head Chef take charge of the kitchen and uphold established standards within the home To assist the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen whilst ensuring high-quality dishes are being prepared and served to our residents. To assist the Head Chef in ensuring best practices and high standards of cleaning are evident in the kitchen at all times. In the absence of the Head Chef ensuring ordering continues with there being enough supplies for the catering operation from specified suppliers using company procedures and maintaining strict control over costs Operate an efficient stock control system Ensure supplied equipment is used with care and in good working order, in accordance with supplier instructions and training, reporting any faults immediately Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals the service supports To encourage our residents and other staff to partake in daily preparation and cooking tasks working in line with the Household Model of Care Drive consistency in food offerings and adhere to menu specifications Demonstrate organization and attention to detail for seamless service Possess knowledge of Health and Safety food regulations, IDDSI framework and coach the rest of the Kitchen team

Working with Others:




To develop effective working relationships with other employees and support and develop new and less experienced members of the team To attend and participate in team meetings To lead, motivate and direct staff under the guidance of the Head Chef To be responsible for the health and safety of yourself as well as others in the home under the Health and Safety regulations whilst promptly reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the relevant person You will have the ability to work under pressure whilst being flexible and consistent Educate staff on menu items for effective communication with residents and their families

To seek opportunities for professional and personal growth and development Be a role model for other members of the team and be an ambassador for the service Be professional, polite and reasonable at all times To provide a warm welcome to all new residents, team members and all visitors and to familiarise them with the home You will have strong communication skills, be cooperative and have excellent attention to detail To lead by example at all times observing and auditing practices at least monthly Induct new starters in accordance with company policy Ensure up-to-date risk assessments and procedures for food-related takes are available at all times Maintain confidentiality regarding resident's dietary requirements and personal information Create a supportive environment that promotes morale and commitment to the home

Personal and Professional Development:




Attend statutory training and any other training as directed whilst being open to learning opportunities Have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects those living with the disease Have a basic knowledge of CQC and the fundamental standards To adhere to all of Millennium Care UK Ltd.'s Policies and Procedures
