Location: Enoteca by Luva, York
Reports To: Head Chef / Manager
Hours: Full-time (35-45 hours per week)
Pay: 13.25 per hour plus tips
Purpose of Role
To assist the Head Chef in managing day-to-day kitchen operations, supporting food preparation, service, and compliance to deliver consistent, high-quality dishes.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in all areas of kitchen operation.
Prepare and cook dishes to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff.
Ensure all kitchen practices meet hygiene and food safety standards.
Monitor stock rotation and assist in ordering when required.
Step in to lead the kitchen during Head Chef's absence.
Assist in planning daily specials and menu development.
Keep kitchen clean, organized, and compliant at all times.
Requirements
At least 2 years' experience as Sous or Second Chef.
Skilled in Italian cooking techniques (fresh pasta, sauces, etc.).
Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and HACCP.
Team player with good communication skills.
Reliable, organized, and able to take initiative.
