Due to expansion of the Spares & Materials Management team, Vulcain Engineering UK have a number of opportunities for professionals at different stages of their career to join this specialist function - supporting the delivery of critical spare parts management, lifecycle assessments, and catalogue integration for the landmark nuclear new build project - Hinkley Point C (HPC).
Some of the main responsibilities of the Spares & Materials Engineer(s) will include:
Routine Spares (position type 1)
Conduct and support the delivery of Routine Spares Assessments in alignment with project maintenance strategies, equipment criticality, and asset management requirements (MCP).
Contribute to the Joint Materials Selection Team (JMST), supporting materials specification, compatibility assessments, and alignment with project engineering standards.
Prepare and hand over approved spares lists for catalogue and supply chain processing.
Collaborate with engineers and planners to ensure spares meet operational readiness.
Strategic Spares & Obsolescence (position type 2)
Deliver Strategic Spares Assessments (SSA) and contribute to Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) activities, ensuring critical spares support long-term operational reliability.
Monitor and report on equipment obsolescence risks using Asset Suite 9 (AS9) and internal obsolescence management tools.
Support standardisation, spares strategy, and lifecycle data management.
Assist in development and implementation of spares/obsolescence control processes.

Experience with spares / materials engineering and lifecycle management.
Demonstratable experience of collaborating with engineering and procurement teams.
For our more senior roles: Nuclear EPR reactor project experience and associated direct exposure to nuclear spares management.
Exposure to obsolescence management is desirable.
Knowledge of project delivery tools and catalogue management.
Experience in cross-functional team environments.
Familiarity with maintenance strategies, equipment criticality, and asset management requirements (MCP) is an advantage.
Strong analytical and communication skills
Reside locally to Bridgwater or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
