Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate SEND Tutor to provide personalised, high-quality learning support to learners.
As a SEND Tutor, you will provide personalised one-on-one or small group instruction to children and young people aged 5-18, assisting them to gain confidence, develop important skills, and achieve their learning objectives. You'll collaborate closely with families, schools, and community services to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that caters to each learner's specific requirements.
Tutoring may take place in local community settings or online, depending on individual circumstances and your availability.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, individualised learning sessions aligned with each student's EHCP or learning plan.
Support progress in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, as well as life skills and communication.
Use a range of teaching methods and resources suited to different learning styles and abilities.
Provide feedback and progress reports to parents, carers, and professionals.
Maintain safeguarding standards and follow all relevant policies and procedures.
Familiarity with special education laws, individualized education programs (IEPs), and inclusive classroom strategies.
Essential Requirements:
Recognised qualification in SEND education (e.g., Level 3/4 SEND, QTS with SEND specialism, or equivalent).
Proven experience working directly with children in educational or childcare settings, particularly those with special needs or developmental challenges.
Experience supporting children and/or young people with a range of additional needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH, speech and language needs).
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with educators, families, and community partners.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
