These is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified professional to join us with experience of working with young people and their families impacted upon by exploitation.

Where Child Exploitation has been identified as a safeguarding issue, the successful applicant will work as a team to provide a borough wide intervention. The intervention will be a therapeutic, solution focused service for children, young people and their families. Working the whole family approach to implement contextual safeguarding principles. As a passionate individual the focus will be required for you to be tenacious, to get individuals at risk of being exploited engaged using various opportunities. There is also a specific focus on early intervention and those regularly missing from home.

You will need to understand the impact of exploitation on young people and an understanding of the 'contextual safeguarding' agenda and an ability to undertake direct work and deliver targeted, therapeutic interventions both individually and in a family setting.

As a Specialist Intervention Practitioner, you will need to demonstrate skills and experience in developing effective relationships with young people and their families that promote and deliver safety and sustainable change for families. An ability to undertake assessments and create effective therapeutic intervention plans and monitor your work with young people and their families is essential.

Being part of the team will require you to raise awareness of exploitation delivered through safeguarding practices. Collaborative working will ensure there is effective partnership working that requires effective communication skills.

The Child Exploitation team provide a borough wide response to children, young people and their families when issues of child exploitation have been identified through the Multi Agency Child Exploitation (MACE) process. This includes all forms of exploitation considering those who are at risk of being exploited through trafficking, Child Criminal Exploitation and Child Sexual Exploitation. As a Specialist Intervention Practitioner early intervention and prevention will be a key focus within daily practice.

The team take a 'contextual safeguarding' approach to the work, working therapeutically and in a trauma informed way with the whole family to build "safety" for young people and reducing the need to become looked after or escalate through the social care system. Relationship based practice is at the core of our model of delivery.

The team will also provide an on-call weekend support offer as part of Children's Service out of hour's response, which you are required to be part of.
