Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to join the Pembrokeshire Community Learning Disabilities Team as a Specialist Learning Disability Physiotherapy Support Worker. The post holder will join a friendly and motivated physiotherapy service on a permanent basis. The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team under the direction of a Specialist Learning Disabilities physiotherapist.



The post holder will be supported by the physiotherapist within the team to independently carry out individual and group therapy sessions in a variety of different settings.

The post holder will be part of the Hywel Dda University Health Board Learning Disabilities (LD) service and assist the qualified physiotherapist in the overall physiotherapy management of clients with learning disabilities in collaboration with carers and other agencies. They will work closely with other members of the Pembrokeshire Community Learning disabilities team including Occupational Therapists, LD Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Dieticians, Pharmacists etc.



Some experience of working with people with a learning disability and knowledge of the role of the physiotherapist is essential. There will be expectation to undertake the Level 3 and 4 Physiotherapy Diploma for Health Care Support Workers and additional opportunities for further training within the role will be offered.



This is a community role based in a rural area. The ability to travel around the County in a timely manner is essential for this role.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest

Five community hospitals:

Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire

Two integrated care centres:

Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings

47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97

community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers

Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
