Legal Risk Management in Projects:


Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks for capital development, construction, and infrastructure projects. Support the Legal Manager: Projects Global in developing legal frameworks for procurement, tenure, permitting, and compliance. Provide legal advisory support on project structuring, risk allocation, and finance-related legal considerations. Contract Review & Negotiation Draft, review, and negotiate agreements, joint venture agreements, and supply contracts. Ensure effective liability caps, indemnities, performance guarantees, and dispute resolution clauses are embedded in agreements. Support contract amendments, claims management, and legal compliance monitoring. Regulatory Compliance & Permitting Ensure projects comply with mining, environmental, land use, and permitting regulations across all jurisdictions. Engage with regulators and government agencies to secure approvals and licenses. Support community engagement and host community agreement compliance. Dispute Resolution & Claims Support Assist in dispute resolution strategies, arbitration, mediation, and adjudication processes. Provide legal support in project-related disputes, including claims on delays, cost overruns, and contract performance issues. Coordinate with external legal counsel in handling international arbitration and domestic litigation proceedings. Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnering Act as a trusted legal advisor to project teams, advising on key legal, contractual, and regulatory risks. Engage with external counsel, industry bodies, and legal networks to align on best practices. Work cross-functionally with corporate affairs, finance, and sustainability teams to ensure project integrity.

Qualifications

-Recognized graduate legal qualification relevant to a Group jurisdiction. Admitted to practice in a relevant legal jurisdiction.

Preffered:



Postgraduate qualification in Construction Law, Mining Law, or Project Finance.

Technical Skills:



Strong expertise in legal risk management for large-scale projects. Deep understanding of contract law, procurement structures, and international regulatory frameworks. Ability to interpret and apply mining, environmental, permitting, and land tenure laws. Familiarity with project finance structures and dispute resolution mechanisms. Knowledge of best practices in legal oversight for global project execution. Strong contract negotiation and drafting capabilities for complex project agreements. Advanced knowledge of project dispute resolution, including arbitration and adjudication. Ability to manage cross-border legal compliance and regulatory requirements. Expertise in risk allocation and claims mitigation for capital projects.
