Job Overview



We are seeking qualified and experienced Specialist Mentors to join our UK team in the Reading area. Our clients are DSA, ATW, and HE institutes. Pay is 38ph. You will normally be working on site at university, in-person with students, although remote work may be an option depending on the client.

Candidates will have a relevant qualification (see below), excellent English, and previous experience in supporting students in either higher education or employment settings. We commit to paying above industry average rates, and in return we ask for reliability, independence and a professional approach. Please note that

we

require

an annual DBS check

before we can issue any contract for work.

You will play a crucial role in supporting the educational journey of clients in university settings, in either undergraduate or postgraduate contexts. The role may include elements of practical support as part of the overall service.

Specialist Mentor (Mental Health/ASC) -Description



Role Overview:



Specialist Mentors provide personalized, one-on-one support to students in higher education who experience mental health challenges or are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or ADHD. The goal is to empower students to manage the barriers these conditions pose to their learning, helping them thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:



Deliver structured, student-centered mentoring sessions focused on: Managing anxiety, stress, and emotional regulation. Developing executive functioning skills like organization, time management, and prioritization. Enhancing concentration, confidence, and motivation. Promoting independence and academic resilience. Maintain accurate, confidential records of student interactions and progress. Collaborate with Disability Services, academic staff, and other support professionals. Adapt support strategies to individual learning styles and evolving student needs. Uphold professional boundaries and safeguard student wellbeing.

Required Qualifications and Skills:



A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Education). Membership or registration with a recognized professional body such as: BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) Proven experience working with individuals with mental health conditions and/or ASC/ADHD. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a sensitive, empathetic approach. Knowledge of higher education learning environments and disability support services. Ability to work independently with excellent time management and documentation skills.
