We are recruiting for a Specialist Mentor
to work with a
student on a one-to-one basis face to face
, addressing the barriers mental health has on their learning.
Location: Southall, West London.
Salary - 33 an hour
Your role
:
As a mentor you will be providing specialist, specifically tailored, one to one support which helps students to recognise barriers to learning and create strategies to managing these, so that a suitable work-life balance is achieved.
Barriers might include:
Coping with anxiety and stress - around deadlines and transitioning
Dealing with concentration difficulties
Time management
Prioritising workload
You will not act as an advocate or counsellor.
For some students, this support will need to be ongoing while for others it might be gradually phased out or only required at certain points of their course.
Candidate Qualifications:
The DSA requires that our Specialist Mentor MH have one of the below memberships:
British Psychological Society (BPS) - Chartered Member (CPsychol)/IAPT register/ Graduate Member (MBPsS) AND a PG qualification in Psychology or Mental Health.
Registered Member of the BACP (MBACP)
Accredited Member of the BACP (MBACP - Accred)
Addiction Professionals - Registration Body and Network - National Accreditation Certificate (NCAC)
Full Membership - Association of Child Psychotherapists
Full Accredited BABCP Membership.
Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) - Mental Health Nurse/ Community Mental Health Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) - Education and training programmes approved as a route to registration - Arts Therapist/ Occupational Therapist/ Practitioner Psychologist/ Social Worker in England
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) - Registrant
Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA).
Social Work England (SWE) - Social Worker
Social Care Wales (SCW) - Social Worker
Full Clinical Membership of the UK Council for Psychotherapy.

The working hours vary according to the needs of the student and the number of students you will be allocated. All support workers are currently paid on a self-employed basis.
