Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Children and Young People, Neurodevelopmental post diagnostic pathway (ADHD Clinic) for a Specialist Nurse - Non-medical Prescriber (NMP).



The successful candidate will work alongside medics, non-medical prescribers, clinic nurses and support workers within the service to provide treatment for children requiring treatment for ADHD.



The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating, titrating and monitoring ongoing medication as per the NICE Guidelines.



The post holder will hold a caseload of Children and Young people across two localities, reviewing accordingly. Completing audits and caseload reviews. Supporting the ADHD Pod (small MDT within the wider team) to review cases.



The post holder will support in CYPS duty team, responding to urgent contact from families, and offering advice and signposting to relevant locality specific services.



An important part of the role will be that of providing training for the team, new staff and students.



Essential criteria to have a non medical prescribing qualification.



The post holder would have relevant knowledge and experience in Children and Young People's Services and/or ADHD treatment, and have a clear understanding of the NICE guidelines.



Work across both Newcastle and Gateshead conducting prescribing assessments and offering prescribing support:



Titrating new patients onto ADHD medications. Titrating existing patients and continuation of prescribing for those already on a prescription.



To act as a point of contact for any prescribing issues.



The post holder would be expected to provide clinical supervision and have leadership skills in order to support the wider team.



There would be an expectation of the post holder to support and lead in strategic prescribing reviews held in conjunction with the service user and/or carer, and frequently liaising with schools and social care.



Service and Pathway development.



Attending safeguarding meetings and completing concise reports for the same.



The successful post holder will be expected to demonstrate strong commitment to high quality client care, good organisational skills and be able to demonstrate prioritisation of workload. Managing diary independently and utilising organisation skills to ensure reviews are completed in accordance with NICE Guidelines timeframes.
