Due to an exciting period of expansion, we are looking for Specialist One to One Study Skills Tutor's

Supporting the academic progress of students with barriers to learning, you will be an experienced in working with adults or young people in a supportive role. and have specialist knowledge of specific learning difficulties and autism.

As a specialist one to one study skills tutor you will be responsible for providing study skills and disability strategy support to students with specific learning difficulties, autism and a range of other disabilities.

You must have the appropriate professional membership for supporting students with specific learning difficulties of: ADSHE, BDA, Dyslexia Guild or PATOSS, as set in the DSA-QAG mandatory criteria.

What does the role entail?

As a specialist one to one study skills tutor your main duties will include:

Working on a 1-1 basis with students with specific learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia), autism and other disabilities;

Enabling students to identify strategies which complement their individual learning styles and requirements e.g. multi-sensory memory techniques or mind mapping;

Enable students to focus on the appropriate organisational and structural approaches to complete coursework and prepare for exams;

Providing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to funding providers on the nature and content of individualised support, and provide recommendations for continuation of support if necessary;

Engaging in any research or preparation as necessary to suit the learning needs of the students;

Working, at all times, in accordance with the principles of the social model of disability and the aim of creating an inclusive student experience for all
