Job Summary

Salary: Starting from \xc2\xa340,994.00

Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week on a rota

Location: 33 Grosvenor Place, London, SW1X 7AW

Contract: Permanent Full Time

What are we looking for?

As an autonomous practitioner within a multidisciplinary team, the Specialist Orthopaedic Physiotherapist will assess, treat and manage their own caseload developing specialist physiotherapy skills within Orthopaedic Physiotherapy.

You will form the highly effective, innovative and evidenced based therapy provision across all Inpatient Orthopaedic services, working with the Lead in the specialist areas. You will have opportunities to develop clinical and non-clinical specialist skills as well as experience within research, service development and progression into future leadership. There is an expectation this role will complete on-call and weekend service provision, developing specialist skills along the way. You will involve supported supervision of Therapy Assistants and have supportive individualised supervision and performance development with senior physiotherapists. There will be opportunities to work within our \xe2\x80\x9cteam of teams\xe2\x80\x9d model of care alongside specialists within their areas.

What will your duties include?

Be legally and professionally responsible for all aspects of your work including safe and effective management of you clinical and non-clinical caseloads.

Effectively apply clinical reasoning to assess, progress, adapt and treat patients seeking guidance at appropriate times to ensure safe and effective care.

Be able to identify risk within clinical setting including deteriorating patients and potential safety issues around care and discharge and communicate this effectively with support as appropriate.

Maintain high levels of professionalism at all times including high levels of communication verbal, non-verbal, written and alternative (Use of interpreter as appropriate) with all stakeholders.

Educate and train physiotherapists and other MDT members with innovation and passion around the role of physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Take a proactive lead in using routine outcome measures to improve patient care.

Provide highly supportive supervision and coaching to physiotherapists and students.

Keep informed of evidence, changes to practice, relevant research and guidance to discuss at regular opportunities to progress and develop own / MDT practice.

Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, ensuring a high standard of care and actively encourages and motivates others to do the same.

Identify areas of research and quality improvement priorities to add to wider physiotherapy development strategy.

Be actively involved in appropriate and discussed audit and research activities within the department, supporting the therapy leadership team with departmental strategies and priorities.

What we need from you?

Degree in Physiotherapy

Post-graduation experience and education in a variety of inpatient specialties including orthopedics, respiratory, neurological and general surgical specialties

Evidence of training / experience in appraisal and supervision of other Caregivers such as assistants/students

Evidence of continuous professional / academic development relevant to clinical field

Evidence of training / experience in basic research skills (critical appraisal, literature reviews)

Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) desirable

Able to maintain high level of CPD and integrate this within daily practice

Effective and adaptable communication using a variety of verbal and written techniques to the needs of the patient, family, carer and wider MDT

Ability to prioritise, delegate, organise and work effectively to a deadline

Fluency in written and spoken English essential, additional language skills are desirable
