CNWL NHS Trust is seeking a skilled and compassionate Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Children's Community Service based in Milton Keynes. We are a friendly, dynamic and innovative team who are passionate about supporting children, young people and families in Milton Keynes. We have an established internal training programme including Trust wide OT peer support and opportunities for external training.
Our admin base is at the Open University site. We see the children referred to our service either within the Child Development Centre (within the grounds of Milton Keynes General Hospital) or in their homes.
Main duties of the job
We are an integrated Health and Social Care Occupational Therapy team. This position offers the opportunity to gain a broad experience in both areas of Children's Occupational Therapy. From assessing and supporting children's Occupational Performance skills in everyday activities to supporting with minor works and major housing adaptations through the DFG (Disabled Facilities Grant) process.
This post will involve working in a mixture of clinics, people's homes and Schools (as part of EHCP assessment). Our service is keen to focus on evidence based family-centred care principles, and applying best practice guidelines to enable occupational participation. We are open to new ideas and constantly reviewing and modifying the way we work.
We are currently developing our Targeted offer to Schools and Parents. The post holder will work as part of team to provide advice and deliver training to other professionals and parents/carers on all aspects of Children's Occupational Therapy. They will provide clinical education and training to Occupational Therapy students and will supervise the work of the OTA's.
