This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist with a special interest in respiratory to work in a tertiary hospital which provides a regional and supra regional service to include most clinical paediatric specialities.
The post is for a full-time permanent band 6 rotational paediatric respiratory physiotherapist at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
This post works within the paediatric respiratory physiotherapy team and involves three 12-18 month rotations between critical care, General Respiratory/CF Out-patients and General Respiratory/CF in-patients. The caseload will include PICU, PHDU, NICU, cystic fibrosis, neuromuscular respiratory complications, LTV, PCD and bronchiectasis. As a HCPC registered health professional you will have recent clinical experience in respiratory care including critical care alongside broad rotational experience as a band 5. Previous experience of working on an overnight on-call service is essential.
Due to practical elements of the interview process all interviews will be held strictly in person. Applicants who would therefore be unable to attend should not apply as virtual interviews would not be possible.
In addition to the clinical role you will be expected to line manage and support junior members of respiratory staff and participate in delivering training to students. Previous experience of teaching others is therefore essential. You would be expected to contribute to service development and provide clinical support to other respiratory areas during planned or unplanned absence.
The team is looking for a motivated, flexible and professional individual who is able to provide care to patients and families in an empathetic manner. The post is suitable for somebody who is a good team player with strong communication skills. You will provide education, advice and support to members of the MDT, patients and parents/carers and be able to respond to and resolve complaints professionally and effectively with excellent communication skills. Patient motivation and adherence management are key skills required for this post.
With excellent organisational and problem-solving skills you will thrive in a busy environment prioritising a busy workload and coping well under pressure. There is a comprehensive in-house appraisal system and multiple learning opportunities as the department is actively involved in audit and research. You will be supported by experienced clinical leads offering clinical and professional advice and feedback supporting your professional and personal development.
You will be expected to participate in the respiratory on-call and weekend rota.
