In this unique split role, you will have the opportunity to specialise in Adult Inherited Metabolic Diseases (AIMD) , lipids , and diabetes & endocrinology , delivering direct patient care through specialist clinics while shaping and developing advanced pharmacy services. As a Specialist Pharmacist (AIMD, Lipids & Diabetes/Endocrinology) , you will:



Provide expert, patient-centred care in specialist outpatient clinics for Adult Inherited Metabolic Diseases, lipid disorders, and diabetes/endocrinology, including independent prescribing and complex medicines optimisation.



Act as a clinical leader and role model , offering specialist advice to multidisciplinary teams and ensuring the highest standards of safe, evidence-based practice.



Lead and develop innovative pharmacy services , including the creation of treatment guidelines, clinical pathways, and medicines optimisation strategies.



Support seamless transitions of care between hospital and community settings, ensuring continuity and improving patient outcomes.



Mentor and train junior pharmacists, pharmacy technicians along with our trainee staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.



Contribute to research, clinical audits, and service evaluations to drive improvements.



Horizon scan for new therapies and service developments, ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines.



Represent the pharmacy service at Trust and directorate-level meetings, ensuring specialist pharmacy priorities are recognised and delivered.

Your key responsibilities will include:



Delivering expert pharmaceutical care and prescribing in specialist outpatient clinics.



Leading and developing pharmacy services for AIMD and lipid management, ensuring safe and cost-effective use of medicines.



Acting as a recognised clinical expert and role model within the Trust and wider networks.



Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care and support seamless care pathways.



Mentoring and developing junior pharmacy staff and trainees.



Contributing to research, clinical audit, and service improvement projects.



Horizon scanning for new therapies and supporting the development of local and national guidance.
