Job overview

South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC) provides a range of Orthopaedic rehabilitation services. You will work closely together and in collaboration with other agencies to provide a comprehensive and dovetailed service for patients with rehabilitation needs.

This post involves regularly contributing to the prioritised 7 day service through rostered weekends and Bank Holiday.

Main duties of the job

Specialist Physiotherapist Band 6

Working alongside the Clinical Therapy Lead and a forward thinking team of physiotherapists and occupational therapists, you could play a pivotal role in the development and growth of a modernised approach to elective orthopaedics. We have recently implemented a new post operative physiotherapy outpatient service in the acute phase of the patient's recovery journey, ensuring robust oversight of their recovery and being able to individualise post op rehab based on need.

Excellent problems solving and communication skills are essential. With a dynamic 'can do' approach, you will have the opportunity to positively participate in a forever changing and busy environment. With the aim of upskilling staff, supervision, support and training of unqualified staff will be part of your role. You will be working in the in-patient setting as well as providing acute post-operative assessment in the out-patient clinics as part of the patient's recovery journey. Orthopaedic experience is essential and experience of MSK, intermediate care, community rehab, A& E or rapid response would be an asset.

Working for our organisation

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 490,000 people living across southwest London and northeast Surrey. In addition, we provide more specialist services, in particular renal and neonatal intensive care, to a wider area, covering parts of Sussex and Hampshire.

We serve an area that is rich in diversity, with a mix of urban and rural areas, and differing levels of quality of life. We cover some of the most prosperous postcodes in the country, as well as some poorer areas. Together with our colleagues at NHS Surrey and NHS Sutton and Merton, we work to make sure that we deliver the best possible care to the communities we serve.

The Trust employs approximately 5,000 staff across its hospitals and is supported by over 500 volunteers.
