We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated colleague to join our team of professionals to work with children and young people from birth to 25 years old, with physical needs as part of our Physical Needs Team. The role is based at Britannia House working as an Outreach Specialist Practitioner visiting the children and young people within their homes or settings across the Bradford District. You will be expected to exercise a significant degree of initiative and personal responsibility in managing time, prioritising and carrying out duties.


As a Specialist Practitioner, you will have the rewarding experience of supporting pupils to access learning and encourage them to become independent individuals


You will join a dedicated team to provide assessment, advice, support, modelling and training for children and young people with physical needs in homes, settings and schools.


Through a detailed induction programme and experience day to day in the role you will develop a depth of knowledge about the Children and Young People (C/YP). We are expanding the use of assistive technology to facilitate learning and independence in the C/YP and it is essential that the successful candidate has an aptitude and confidence in using ICT such as an iPad and various apps.


We are looking for a colleague that has a solution focused approach to meeting the needs of the children and young people. Those needs can also include sensory impairment, cognition and learning, social communication, medical needs and social, emotional and mental health needs.


You must have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in early education, early childhood development, SEND and /or complex health and disabilities OR extensive experience in a relevant field and can demonstrate the necessary skills abilities, knowledge and understanding at this level


Experience and skills required for this role are:

Working within GDPR, Data Protection rules and the council's confidentiality requirements when dealing with sensitive information, maintaining records / documents securely Experience of supporting effective play opportunities, and teaching and learning for individual children with physical needs in various settings Experience of delivering training, advice, support or outreach work in the field of SEND / or complex health needs to support children with physical needs Knowledge and understanding of manual handling principles and experience of the practical application of these or a willingness to train in this area

The post holder is required to have a useable car available at all times or as advised by the line manager.
