Job Overview


The ICU Registrar plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring accurate patient registration and data management within the Intensive Care Unit. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can efficiently handle patient information while adhering to strict confidentiality and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Duties



Accurately register patients in the ICU, ensuring all necessary information is collected and entered into the system. Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including insurance verification and medical history. Utilize various EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others to manage patient records effectively. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information. Assist in medical billing processes by coding using ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding standards. Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries and guiding patients through the registration process. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure care plans are documented accurately within patient records. Perform clerical duties including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems to support office operations. Ensure efficient scheduling of appointments and manage front desk responsibilities as needed.

Requirements



Experience in medical office management or administrative support within a healthcare setting is preferred. Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices (ICD coding, CPT coding). Familiarity with insurance verification processes and Medicare regulations. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply for enhanced communication with diverse patient populations. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation review. Previous experience in an ICU or hospital environment is highly desirable. Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on patient satisfaction and care.
