We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. The post is permanent, full time and predominantly based within the Burton area. Ideally, we are looking for somebody who is dysphagia qualified / interested in qualifying, although applications are welcome from those without this.
It involves working within a range of community clinics, domiciliary settings, and educational sites, with children and young people on the mainstream or special school caseloads. The clinical sites for the communication will be based in or around Burton. If you are dysphagia trained, the caseload for dysphagia will cover more of the South patch, including Burton, Lichfield and Tamworth.
The base for this post is Greenhill Health Centre, Lichfield. You will hold a caseload that predominantly covers clinics in Burton, Uttoxeter and surrounding areas. There may be some travel required to attend team meetings and supervision in other settings across the geographical area.
This post would be suitable for experienced band 5 or 6 Therapists who are looking for the opportunity to further develop leadership and clinical skills. Internal applications are welcome.
assessing, diagnosing and completing treatment plans for a children / young people aged 0-19 with a range of speech, language and communication disorders
completing tasks within service development
supporting and mentoring new or junior colleagues through supervision and case discussions
providing second opinions as appropriate
completing work to support EHCP and SEND processes
to refer to other professionals as needed
to support with triage if requested
if trained in dysphagia, to hold and manage a small caseload of children needing assessment and advice regarding eating, drinking and swallowing
working as a clinical educator to support students
participating in team CPD sessions and team meetings
