We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language to join our dynamic Allied Health Professions team working in the Inpatient Mental Health Service.
The post is to enhance Speech and Language Therapy provision of intervention for adults who have communication needs or EDS difficulties related to their mental health condition, acquired neurological impairment or autism.
The impact of the post will be measured and evaluated, with the aim to permenantly establish the post.
The role requires post graduate qualification and competence in dysphagia.
It would suit someone with the patience, compassion and creativity to engage this client group in the assessment and intervention process, supporting people to participate as best they can in their recovery. The job can be challenging but fun and the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, resilient and have a good sense of humour.
The post is hospital-based and involves close MDT working, providing opportunity for development of knowledge and skills around this complex and varied client group. The postholder will work autonomously, often in collaboration with the wider AHP team and always well supported by the clinical lead Speech Therapist.
The SLT service covers three hospital sites in Warwick, Coventry and Nuneaton. There is flexibility around the preferred base and client group.
To provide a speech and language therapy service to hospital patients with eating, drinking, swallowing (EDS) and communication difficulties related to their mental health condition, acquired neurological impairment or autism.
To assess the EDS and/or communication needs of patients referred to the service.
T o be an autonomous practitioner within the AHP service, working across several wards and within various multidisciplinary teams.

To formulate care plans from assessment findings, providing information, advice and guidance to patients, professionals and carers or relatives. To support the patient and all involved in their care to implement SLT care plans.
To work with patients and staff to optimise the patient's participation in the process of treatment and recovery planning.
To contribute in MDT discussions and case formulations.
To support to colleagues and students in delivering the Trust's contracted services.
