Job Description

Northcroft School are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and imaginative classroom practitioner, to join our new and developing Design and Technology Department. The Design and Technology Department will be a dynamic and successful department who are passionate about their subject and who work collaboratively to deliver Design and Technology in a stimulating and engaging way.

Students in Year 7, 8 and 9 receive two hours of Design Technology teaching per 10-day cycle and they follow the current National Curriculum. Classes will have up to three projects during the course of the year which will introduce them to a wide variety of materials and production methods, while evidences the students building and knowledge and skills throughout their academic journey.

At Key Stage 4, students follow the AQA specification. They receive 6 lessons in a 10-day cycle. All students get the opportunity to strengthen or broaden their knowledge of Design and Technology, whilst creating cross-curricular links with Geography, History, Maths and Science. We are always on the look-out for more exciting opportunities. For students with low level attainment standalone certifications will be catered for.

Northcroft School works in conjunction with its Alternative provision which broadens facilities available. The school itself currently has developing D&T facilities. The school has a newly refurbished computer room. At Northcroft school, you may work with a variety of Special Needs, ranging from, learning difficulties such as dyslexia, conditions such as autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, or have a combination of these difficulties. A full training individual package will be created alongside the successful candidate to ensure they are supported and equipped with the knowledge and skills which are needed.

Essential requirrements:



Good honours degree in subject and QTS Able to teach KS3 and KS4 effectively in subject area, a sound knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments Ability to adapt teaching for different learning needs A range of strategies for creating a positive learning environment Positive and engaging teaching style, able to lead, motivate, inspire and support students to achieve excellence Ability to contribute to the extra-curricular programme and revision classes after school
