Parity Education and Careers Services is looking for an experienced
Specialist Tutor
to provide 1:1 tuition and mentoring for a Year 8 learner (age 13) with an EHCP and SEMH needs.
The student is currently out of school and requires tailored academic and emotional support until a specialist placement is secured. This is a rewarding role where you'll combine academic teaching with social, emotional and behavioural support in a
trauma-informed, relational way
.
What you'll be doing:
Deliver 25 hours of personalised tuition each week (schedule agreed with parents).
Teach core subjects (literacy, numeracy and others) using engaging, interest-based approaches.
Build confidence, resilience and social/emotional skills.
Create clear routines and boundaries to provide a safe and predictable learning environment.
Apply trauma-informed and restorative strategies to reduce anxiety and build trust.
Track progress and share regular updates with parents, the local authority and future providers.
Support the learner's phased reintegration into full-time education.
What we're looking for:
Experience with children who have
SEMH needs, SEN or are out of education
.
Ability to adapt teaching to learner needs and embed interests (e.g. sports).
Strong behaviour management and emotional regulation skills.
Patient, empathetic and resilient - with a commitment to safeguarding.
Qualifications (desirable but not essential)
Teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE or equivalent).
Experience delivering Functional Skills, GCSE, ASDAN or AQA awards.
Training in trauma-informed practice, SEN, or therapeutic approaches.
