This is a career-defining opportunity for experienced SAS doctors with ambitions towards CESR or clinical excellence within a large, innovative and forward-thinking anaesthetic department. Main duties of the job
The successful Specialty Doctors will play a key role in delivering high-quality anaesthetic and critical care services across a range of clinical settings within the Trust. You will participate in the resident on-call rota (1:10), rotating through Critical Care, Obstetric Anaesthesia, and the Resident Additional Anaesthetist Cover (RAAC). Daytime duties will include the provision of anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgery, including general theatres, obstetrics, and remote site anaesthesia (e.g., endoscopy, CT, and MRI). You will also have opportunities to contribute to our state-of-the-art 32-bed Critical Care Unit, participating in supervised and independent management of complex cases, and supporting outreach services for deteriorating patients on the wards.
In Obstetric Anaesthesia, your responsibilities will encompass epidural services, labour analgesia, and anaesthesia for elective and emergency Caesarean sections, working closely with a multidisciplinary maternity team within one of the busiest inner-city obstetric units in the region. You will be encouraged to develop and lead on a sub-specialty interest, such as regional anaesthesia, pre-assessment, trauma, education, peri-operative medicine or simulation.
