This post is for a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology. This is a whole time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will be expected to have full GMC registration at the time of appointment. Candidates without GMC will progress if shortlisted for interview, though will be expected to have full GMC registration at the time of appointment.

We are pleased to inform you that the plans for St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust to come together as one new organisation have now been formally approved by the Secretary of State. Our new Trust will be called Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and will officially launch on Saturday 1st July 2023.

Any applicants who secure an offer of employment and/ or are due to commence their new role from 1st July 2023 onwards are advised that their conditional offer and contract of employment will be issued as per our normal recruitment process but will be under the new name of the organisation. Main duties of the job

We are delighted to offer a suitably qualified Speciality Doctor the opportunity to work within a exciting and forward thinking Ophthalmology Department. The post is full-time, 10 PA\'s 1 PA plus 5% on call allowance per week with associated on-call commitments on a 1 in 9 basis. Contributing to our services within Paediatrics, Strabismus and Neuro-Ophthalmology this post would be ideally suited to ambitious doctors seeking to gain their CESR certification.

Four years experience at post graduate level including at least 2 years in ophthalmology is necessary with the ability to practice independently. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience.

The Eye Department, which is staffed by 8 Consultants and 7 Middle Grade Staff, is based in the new state of the art St Helens Hospital, and offers up-to-date modern state of the art ophthalmic equipment.
