Job Description

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated speech and language therapists to join our large Haringey Mainstream Schools team which includes specialists in many clinical areas. You will gain new skills and experiences and support Haringey children and young people, their families, and schools. We have a strong focus on achieving the best outcomes for the children and young people.



The roles are 12 month fixed term, Band 7 . We welcome applications from current Band 6 or 7 SLTs with some experience working in mainstream schools. Additional support and training will be offered for less experienced therapists.



It's an exciting time inHaringey We are developing our Universal offers which run alongside Haringey's SLCN graduated response which identifies and meets the SLCN needs of children and young people as early as possible. As part of this we have additional funding for these posts which will support us to reduce long waits for assessment and intervention in our mainstream schools service.



1. To carry a personal clinical caseload to a high level of professional competence and demonstrate clinical expertise in early years or mainstream school case management.



2. To assess, differentially diagnose, plan and implement therapy for children with speech, language and/or communication difficulties on own caseload and supervise others to do so.



3. To work effectively with clients, carers, and colleagues around individual case management; providing advice, guidance and support as necessary and involving them in the planning and prioritisation of care wherever possible.



4. To reflect on clinical practice; adequately identifying strengths & needs of clients, reviewing their response to therapy and providing evidence of sound clinical judgement.

POST SUMMARY

These posts have arisen from additional funding from the North Central London Integrated

Care Board (NCL ICB) aimed at reducing long waits for children's speech and language

therapy assessment and intervention in Haringey.

The post holders would form part of the Speech and Language Therapy Mainstream team,

providing assessment, differential diagnosis, advice and intervention to children with speech,

language and communication difficulties.

The post holder should have knowledge and experience of the assessment, diagnosis and

treatment of developmental language disorder and social communication difficulties including

those associated with autistic spectrum disorders and selective mutism. In addition the post

holder should be knowledgeable and experienced in assessing, treating and managing

children and young people who have associated syndromes or special educational needs

which interact with their language development.
