Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

depending on knowledge, experience and qualifications.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of an established and successful speech and language therapy service, in a role which provides great variety and opportunities for creative working in the beautiful Isle of Wight location. The Schools Speech and Language Support Team adopts a highly collaborative and responsive approach to our work in schools, which enables us to offer a unique and effective service which is valued by our education settings.

This is a permanent role with the Isle of Wight School's Speech and Language Support Team, working with senior therapists, a specialist teacher advisor, speech and language therapists and assistants within Island schools and settings to meet the SLCN (including severe and complex communication needs) of children and young people. Should you be newly qualified, you will receive regular support, opportunities and additional training to enable you to work towards your competencies as part of a supportive and enthusiastic team. The post would suit someone with an interest in supporting children and young people within education settings, across a range of key stages.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to fulfil a role with many different elements to it, where no two days are ever the same. The successful applicant will be responsible for assessing the speech, language and communication strengths and needs of children and young people within education settings, developing intervention programmes based on evidence-based practice alongside delivering intervention and training and provide guidance and support for staff in schools. Collaborative team working is an important element of our work and this results in fantastic partnerships with families, school staff and other professionals involved.

You will receive regular supervision and support from highly skilled, trained and experienced colleagues and there will be regular opportunities for training and continuing professional development.

The successful applicant will be working as part of an innovative, dynamic and highly supportive team, that is driven to ensure more positive outcomes for children, young people, schools and families on the Isle of Wight.
